BackPack is a private space for students to write, plan, and chat with AI. BackPack is
not therapy and does not provide medical, legal, or emergency advice.
Eligibility & Accounts
Use your real age so age-appropriate rules apply. BackPack is designed for students with parent/guardian oversight.
Parents/guardians may link to a student account to activate safety alerts and manage purchases.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login and for activity under your account.
Do not upload illegal or dangerous content, and do not attempt to harm, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service.
License to Use the App
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use BackPack solely for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
User Content & Rights
You own your content. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display your content to operate the app and to enforce safety (e.g., detect serious risk).
AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. Use judgment, especially for schoolwork or personal decisions.
Acceptable Use
No content that is illegal, exploitative, harassing, or violent; no bullying or hate.
No attempts to bypass security, scrape, or misuse APIs.
We may restrict or disable accounts that violate these rules.
Parent-Only Payments (No In-App Purchases)
BackPack does not offer Apple/Google in-app purchases.
Any optional paid feature (e.g., Parent / Guardian Alerts) is purchased by a parent/guardianoutside the app via our website checkout (PayPal).
Students cannot complete purchases in the app; the app may only share a link with a parent/guardian.
Free Tier & Limits
BackPack may include a free allowance for AI chat or other features.
When free use is exhausted, additional access requires a parent/guardian to activate a paid plan on the website.
Third-Party Services
Payments: processed by PayPal. We do not store full payment card numbers.
Infrastructure/analytics/crash reporting: standard providers may process data on our behalf to operate the service. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Safety
If our systems detect potential danger (e.g., self-harm, threats, exploitation), we may notify the linked parent/guardian so they can step in. For emergencies, call local services immediately.
Cancellation, Refunds & Deletion
Parents/guardians can cancel at any time; future renewals stop immediately.
You can request account and server-side data deletion from the app or here: Delete Data.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, abuse, or risks to users or the service.
